Adult Sabbath School this Quarter - Growing in relationship with God

Growing in relationship with God

Whether you’re a seasoned Seventh-day Adventist or a newcomer to the faith, or whether you’ve delved into many or few Adult Sabbath School Bible Study Guides, the topic of growing in a meaningful relationship with God remains paramount.

This topic impacts all aspects of your life. If your understanding of God has become clouded or distorted, pray for clarity as you study. You might be wondering how to rejuvenate your devotional life, focusing on prayer and Bible study. Alternatively, you might be contemplating other areas that influence your relationship with God, such as the roles of pride and humility, faith and knowledge, sin and God’s law, repentance and forgiveness, overcoming strongholds and setbacks, and encouraging others in their faith journey.

Your relationship with God is your most significant relationship. Don’t delay in nurturing, fortifying, and strengthening it. Now, not in the distant future, is the time to invest in this relationship, which will profoundly affect your marriage (if applicable), parenting (if applicable), friendships, financial decisions, leisure activities, aspirations, and, of course, your eternal future.

Since this topic—God’s desire to be in a relationship with humankind—encompasses the entire Bible, numerous angles, stories, and passages could have been chosen to teach this crucial subject. Given the nature of the adult Sabbath School guide, we can only cover a limited number.

Regardless of your current relationship with God, these lessons are crafted with you in mind. Ultimately, the hope is that these 13 concise, focused lessons will rekindle your love and commitment to Jesus Christ as you seek Him anew this quarter.

This Adult Sabbath School Bible Study Guide takes a slightly different approach because it focuses on relationships.  The lessons are written in a more personal style, reflecting the nature of a personal God who desires a personal connection with us.

Ellen G. White emphasises that “a consistent life in Christ is a great miracle” (The Desire of Ages, p. 407). The Bible uses the metaphor of a race to describe our journey with God, promising an imperishable crown (1 Corinthians 9:24, 25) and eternal life with Him.  This spiritual race is a marathon, not a sprint, and we may encounter moments of rest or even failure.  However, we must persevere, despite trials and hardships, as instructed in Hebrews 12:4–11.  We’re not alone in this race; other believers who love Jesus and His Word run alongside us.  Crucially, Jesus promised to provide us with the Helper, the Spirit of truth, who will remain with us forever (John 14:16, 17, NKJV).

The Helper is not only present with us but also dwells within us, strengthening and sustaining us as we run and fix our gaze on “Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2, NET).

I pray that the Holy Spirit will move upon us individually and as a worldwide church, drawing us closer to God than ever before.  A strong relationship with God is undoubtedly of utmost importance.

Let’s embark on this study together, seeking knowledge, love, and abiding in Him.

Reflecting on the goodness of God together

We meet every Saturday to study God's word and reflect on His goodness. In this setting, we fellowship and discover God's plan for our lives. His word is truth, it enlightens us, and it is the road map for our Salvation.

We are not perfect but we serve a perfect God. He came to Earth and bore the weight of our guilt and shame. He died on the cross to set us free from the bondage of sin. That is Love. Journey with us and discover God's will for your life.
